The duo were both confirmed as Town players on Saturday with Colkett joining on a one-year loan deal from Premier League giants Chelsea.

Loft, meanwhile, has put pen to paper on a 12-month deal after impressing while on trial over the past few weeks.

But Askey is still keen to reinforce in the middle of the park where Salop have lost Abu Ogogo and Ben Godfrey from last season.

"We are still looking in midfield to get people in ," the boss said.

"We have lost players over the summer and it’s an area where we were strong last year.

"We need to find the right combination so that we can compete with everyone else."

Alongside a midfielder, Askey is also looking for a goalkeeper to provide competition for Stephen Arnold.

An unnamed trialist featured between the posts in the second half of Town's friendly defeat to Brentford on Saturday.

But those areas aside, the manager feels his squad is strong.

"We want another midfielder and obviously we need another goalkeeper." Askey continued.

"Those are the areas, I think everywhere else we are strong.

"I thought the trialist we had against Brentford did quite well. He looks assured. We’ll have a good look at him next week.

"But we will keep looking and keep enquiring and hopefully we are going to get someone in who – along with Stephen – can make us stronger."

Colkett arrives at the Montgomery Waters Meadow stadium having impressed in previous loan spells with Bristol Rovers and Swindon.

He also had a spell with Chelsea's feeder club Vitesse in Holland last season.

And Askey says he has the potential to be a big player for his side.

"Charlie has got quality," the boss added.

"He is from Chelsea, he has been out on loan a couple of times – at Bristol Rovers, Swindon and in Holland.

"He has got a good pedigree. Hopefully, he will bring that little bit of quality and energy that we will need.

"He is someone that can get on the ball and dictate play. He has also got the energy to get up the park as well, he’s got legs."
