Shrewsbury Town sign Huddersfield Town goalkeeper Joel Coleman on-loan
Shrewsbury Town have confirmed the signing of Joel Coleman on-loan from Huddersfield Town.
Town had seen Dean Henderson and Craig MacGillivray depart the Meadow at the end of last season, but did bring Steve Arnold into the club - who will compete with Coleman for the starting spot for the upcoming campaign.
The 22-year-old made four first-team appearances for the Terriers last season split between the club's FA Cup and Carabao Cup exploits.
But now Coleman is happy to have a chance to showcase his skills at Shrewsbury, and is hoping to get involved in action and the Meadow right away.
"I'm so pleased, I'm just looking forward to getting started and getting training with the boys today and hopefully get a game tomorrow in the last pre-season game to get used to the style of play." Coleman said.
"I need to be playing because obviously the last two years I've not really played as much as I wanted to, but this is a perfect opportunity for me to showcase my talents and just get consistency back in my game and show everyone what I'm all about.
"It's been incredible in what Huddersfield have achieved and it was unbelievable to be a part of but I'm here now to hopefully be successful this season with Shrewsbury.
"It's been perfect knowing that Shrewsbury wanted me from the start of pre-season. It's been a long wait, but I'm glad it's over the line and I'm ready to get started now.
"I've not been in the public eye as much last year because I didn't really play, but it was a good experience being number two but seeing what it takes to be a keeper at the top level, I've learnt a lot from last year so hopefully I can put it into practice."
"I’m looking forward to seeing how the goalkeepers run here and see what everyone’s about and looking forward to getting started.”
Coleman could feature as early as this weekend, as Shrewsbury take on Port Vale in their final pre-season fixture of the summer.
Following that, Salop will prepare for their League One opener against Bradford City.
