Aaron Amadi-Holloway notched twice in a 4-2 triumph at Vale Park.

Shaun Whalley and Lenell John-Lewis were also on the scoresheet.

"It was a good way to finish. This will be forgotten as soon as we start the season but it gives us confidence," said Askey, whose side start the League One season against Bradford City at the Montgomery Waters Meadow next Saturday.

"I thought it was our best performance of pre-season, under difficult conditions.

"It was windy and the pitch wasn't great but I was really pleased with some of the football that we played.

"Shaun's goal capped off eight or nine passes and the second goal was another well-worked goal.

"I'm really pleased. It can only do us good, Aaron getting two and Lenny coming on and scoring. It's nice to get your strikers scoring."
