Shrewsbury Town will soon get it right, says James Bolton

Right-back James Bolton believes it is merely a matter of time until Shrewsbury Town pick up their first victory of the season.

Salop sit 22nd in League One after the first four games of the campaign, with two draws and two defeats.

Bolton is feeling positive about picking up back-to-back clean sheets, though, and believes they will ‘definitely’ start putting sides to the sword soon.

“There’s lads here who have got plenty of quality,” he said.

“I just think it’s having that little bit of luck. There’s been a few games this season where things haven’t dropped for us.

“We were a little bit unlucky (at Doncaster, on Tuesday). There’s been plenty of chances – I had a chance – and we had penalty claims. Something just isn’t going our way, a little bit.

“In the season, though, you do tend to get your luck eventually and we just need that bit of luck.

“Hopefully we can then get that first win.”

Bolton played at the back with Town stalwart Mat Sadler and summer arrivals Luke Waterfall and Ryan Haynes on Tuesday night.

Waterfall and Haynes are two of 15 newcomers and, with so many arrivals over the summer, Bolton admits it was always likely to take some time to gel.

“It’s going to take time. If you look at the team, there’s not that many here from last year,” he said.

“It’s rebuilding, it’s getting to know everybody.

“It’s different, there’s different things, but it’s football – everyone goes to different places and moves on.”

Bolton missed a good opportunity to score at Doncaster while Shaun Whalley was denied what looked like a stonewall penalty.

He got one goal for Salop last season and is hoping to chip in with a fair share this time around.

Bolton added: “I’m aiming to score more goals this season as I do tend to get a lot of chances. Hopefully I can keep practising and it’ll come – get a few goals.”
