Shrewsbury Town inked with St Johnstone’s Blair Alston

Shrewsbury Town are one of three Football League sides linked with a move for in-form St Johnstone midfielder Blair Alston.

Versatile midfielder Alston has been in fine form in recent weeks after recovering from injury.

Town’s League One rivals Scunthorpe and Championship outfit Rotherham are also believed to be tracking the 26-year-old.

His current contract at St Johnstone expires at the end of the season and, although the club has an option to extend it, his suitors know he could be available for a bargain fee in the January transfer window, although the player himself has indicated he would be keen to stay north of the border.

“My main focus so far has been to get fit again,” he said.

“Obviously I would like to stay and hopefully the club will make me an offer, but my focus is just on playing.”
