Charles-Cook, who played as a team mate of Sam Ricketts during his time captaining Coventry City, has been looking for a chance to move back to English football since signing for Danish Superliga side SønderjyskE in the summer.

An Arsenal academy product, Charles-Cook made over 50 league appearances for the Sky Blues, keeping five clean-sheets in his first five games, a club record.

The 24-year-old featured 22 times in League Two for Swindon Town last season and was on trial with Town in the summer.

Shrewsbury have been on the hunt for a goalkeeper since loanee Joel Coleman was recalled by his parent club Huddersfield last week.

Saturday's 3-0 defeat to Charlton saw first-team coach and former goalkeeping coach Danny Coyne named on the bench.
