James Bolton wants to extend his stay with Shrewsbury Town
James Bolton wants to extend his stay at Shrewsbury Town beyond his contract expiring this summer, adding he ‘loves’ it at the club.
The defender has made more than 80 appearances in his two years at Salop after impressively stepping up from the National League.
His two-year deal at Montgomery Waters Meadow is up this summer, but the Staffordshire 24-year-old is keen to agree terms and continue his stay.
Asked if he wanted to stay at Shrewsbury, he replied: “Yes, of course I do!
“I’ve loved my time here, we’ll just have to see what happens at the end of the season.
“It’s not too far away, it would’ve been nice to have somebody in my car-school coming from my way but that’s not to be. I’ve loved my time here, it’s a great club, I’ve enjoyed everything.”
Boss Sam Ricketts is a big fan of Bolton and ‘would love’ keep him at the club beyond the summer.
When Ricketts was quizzed over extending the player’s stay, he answered: “Yes, definitely.
“You want good characters and good players. That’s what he is. He’s a player the club would certainly like to keep.
“I think it’s a nice fit, I hope so – tell him! He’s a good lad, he really enjoys it here, he has the bit between his teeth where he wants to achieve as much as he can in football which is brilliant.
“That’s what you want from all of your players. I would love to keep him around.”
