The 23-year-old scored his second Shrewsbury goal at Bolton on Sunday to earn Sam Ricketts’ visitors a point.

Nigerian-born Udoh made the three-division hike from neighbours AFC Telford in the summer after smashing in 26 goals for the Bucks.

He has scored big goals on the road at Accrington Stanley and Bolton in just four league starts, making 13 league appearances all told.

Udoh said: “I feel like I’m coming on but there’s still a lot to learn and a lot to do.

“I speak to the gaffer, speak to G (Graham Barrow), speak to Edo (Dave Edwards), talking about past player that they’ve played with and worked with.

“(I’m asking) what do I need to do better. I look at myself to improve.

“I feel like I’m a sponge and I’m not afraid to say it, ready to learn off anyone. Whatever you tell me I need to learn I’m ready.”

Udoh has become a fans’ favourite as Town supporters chanted his name at the University of Bolton Stadium.

“They’re crazy, we’ve got crazy fans, you see them and God knows how many were there, maybe 600-plus,” he added.

“It’s fantastic. I’ve scored and I’m going like that (lifts arms), trying to lift us up and they’re all shouting.

“It’s good to have fans like that. You need them when the game’s going tough. We need it packed at Bristol (City) and pushing us on.”

When told that the Town following was 1,087, almost double his estimation, Udoh replied: “Oh was it? Wow.

“It’s crazy. I’m a player that just wants to work hard and make sure I don’t leave any stone unturned and give my best for the fans and team.

“Thank God I got a goal and we got the point we more than deserved, we should’ve got three.

“I’m just happy to be here and happy to work hard. If ever the fans see me anywhere I’m happy to have a chat.”

Udoh marvelled at his experience of scoring at Bolton: “My older brother was here even two hours before the game, before we even got here.

“He sent me a picture of the stadium and I was like ‘wow’, Jay-Jay Okocha played here. When I was a young kid in Nigeria Jay-Jay Okocha at Bolton was the biggest thing happening.

“I’m grateful to be at a stadium like this. I’m always learning and hopefully I’ll be at other stadiums like this.”
