Matija Sarkic
Made a huge save early on after Williams struggled to clear his lines, but was hardly stretched afterwards. Kicking was below-par and something to work on. Otherwise another welcome clean sheet.
Kicking 6
Ro-Shaun Williams
Wobbly start missing a clearance allowing Dembele’s chance, but he recovered superbly. Won his headers against big Clarke-Harris and cleared lines. Worked well defensively with Love.
Aerial 7
Ethan Ebanks-Landell
Won his big headers and made some excellent clearances and interceptions, notably from one right-sided cross. Went close with a header. Finding some real form.
Solid 8
Aaron Pierre
Was excellent before the Covid breakout and has picked up where he left off, getting near his levels from last season. Covered space well with some excellent clearances.
Imperious 8
Donald Love
What a turnaround it has been for the defender, who was nowhere to be seen under Sam Ricketts. Impressive at Sunderland and equally as good here on the right. Can be proud of the way he has filled in and turned it around.
U-turn 7
Josh Vela
An immense display from Town’s central midfielder. He was sharp and everywhere, covering every blade of grass to get his side on the front foot and used the ball well. Under-appreciated.
Superb 8
Ollie Norburn
The skipper’s best display since Shrews returned. Really good both with and without the ball, making progressive passes and runs from deep. Influential.
Leader 7
Nathanael Ogbeta
What a debut. Not just a Shrewsbury debut, but a senior debut. The 19-year-old signing from Manchester City grew into the game and was excellent with and without the ball at left wing-back. Looks a fine signing.
Brilliant bow 8
Harry Chapman
Town’s match-winner. Was superb all day long, imaginative dribbling, great passing, a direct threat. An exquisite home debut brace, two sensational goals and more to come.
Match-winner 9
Shaun Whalley
Ran himself into the ground for the cause. So effective with his running both with and without the ball. Almost scored a wonder-goal with an outstanding lob.
Non-stop 7
Daniel Udoh
Diverted a shot cleverly on to the post early on and was effective with some superb hold-up play, as well as hassling and harrying defenders non-stop.
Tireless 7
