Harry Burgoyne

Handed a second start on the road in the space of a few days for the injured Sarkic and close to a second clean sheet. Had wobbly moments coming for aerial balls. Couldn’t get down for Addicks goal but may’ve seen it late.

Blind-sided 6

Matthew Pennington

Back in the side and the on-loan Everton stopper defended well and came up with a crucial bit of quality with a delicious cross for Goss’ goal.

Assist 7

Ethan Ebanks-Landell

A dominant figure at the centre of Town’s back three, stand-in skipper Ebanks-Landell gave a leading display in which he helped organise the defence.

Dominant 6

Ro-Shaun Williams

Recovered well from an off-colour performance last weekend with a couple of improved displays. Looked composed and focused at The Valley, used the ball well.

Composed 6

Josh Daniels

Another terrific display from one of Town’s star men at the moment. Up against Charlton’s best player in Maatsen and, for the most part, defended expertly, and was a threat going forward.

Star 7

Josh Vela

Shrewsbury’s own Duracell Bunny gave another typically tireless display. A couple of thundering challenges let the hosts know he was there.

Tireless 7

Brad Walker

Moved into midfield from defence and used the ball well for the large parts. Tries ambitious passes, so is going to give it away every so often. Did well to last 90 minutes.

Ambitious 6

Nathanael Ogbeta

Another excellent performance by the very exciting left-sided player. Fearless when attacking and charging forward. Got stuck in when Charlton attacked.

Fearless 7

Sean Goss

Goss’ magnificent turnaround continues. Stunning diving header for a third goal in five games and almost scored a rocket afterwards. Real meaning in the goal and cupped hand to ear celebration. A message to an onlooker?

Turnaround 7

Harry Chapman

Back in the side and performed well despite Charlton applying the shackles. Got Town forward when he had the ball.

Stuck to it 6

Curtis Main

Powerful display, occupied the home defence well and worked some decent chances, heading wide and drawing a decent second-half save.

Chances 6

Substitutes

Dave Edwards (for Chapman, 69) Missed a golden late chance 6. David Davis (for Goss, 78) Creative late on 6. Daniel Udoh (for Main, 78) Also unable to take his late moment on goal 6. Shaun Whalley (for Walker, 90) Sent a half-volley just wide.

Subs not used: Sarkic, Sears, Pyke.
