The Shrewsbury Town boss spent another 16 days in hospital after being re-admitted, battling Covid-pneumonia, to add to the 33 days he was fighting the virus during January and February.

Cotterill will continue his recovery at home in Bristol with his wife. He has missed 13 games since first being admitted, with No.2 Wilbraham taking the reins in his place.

Wilbraham said last week on a possible long-term plans for the manager to return to the role: “You can’t look much further than that (being released from hospital) to be honest.

"At the moment it’s just about the gaffer’s health, getting him right, back home & taking it from there, that’s what we’re looking at doing at the moment.”
