The former AFC Telford United striker has penned fresh terms at Montgomery Waters Meadow having been the only one of the club's numerous out-of-contract players offered a new contract by boss Steve Cotterill.

Udoh's new deal keeps him at Town until the summer of 2023 with an extra year's option in Salop's favour.

The striker managed just five goals in 44 games last season but Cotterill insists he has seen improvement in the frontman's game, although underlined that Udoh's goal return must improve.

“Dan Udoh is still a young boy that has plenty of learning to do," Cotterill said.

"I’ve seen lots of improvement in his game. The one area of his game he needs to improve on is his goals and he knows that."

The 24-year-old has scored nine goals in 77 appearances in his two seasons at Town, having signed from neighbours AFC Telford in 2019, following a prolific campaign in National League North.

Nigeria-born Udoh ended the season on the scoresheet, netting at his former club Crewe where Cotterill's men signed off with a 3-2 defeat.

He joins fans' favourite Shaun Whalley, who triggered a year extension to his Town deal via an appearance-based clause, and fellow striker Rekeil Pyke in the forward reckoning for next season.

But it is believed Cotterill is in the market for fresh faces in attack.
