Shrewsbury director of football Micky Moore holds positive discussions with captain Luke Leahy
Shrewsbury Town’s director of football Micky Moore has held positive discussions with skipper Luke Leahy about his plans for the club.
Leahy was an instrumental figure during Steve Cotterill’s tenure as manager.
The 30-year-old arrived at Shrewsbury as a wing-back but was soon turned into a midfielder by the former boss, and he ended up scoring 12 goals across all competitions last season and winning the club’s player-of-the-season award for the second successive year.
Leahy had a good relationship with Cotterill, putting out a tweet thanking him when he left the club last week.
He said: “Some of my best football has come in these past two years, also a change of position and captaincy. On & off the pitch you’ve helped me enormously. Thank you Gaffer.”
