Micky Moore is leading the search for the new Shrewsbury Town head coach

Moore, who is Salop’s first-ever director of football, is currently working towards replacing Steve Cotterill – who left earlier this month.

And he says they have had a wide range of people who have applied for the role at the Croud Meadow.

He said: “What we have had is a whole range of candidates. There have been really good managers and really good coaches who want to become managers.

“We have assistant managers and first-team coaches who believe they are now ready to make the step up as well. It has been getting a balance between what we feel is the right thing for us.

“This is a good job. Some great foundations have been set within the team.

“There are some really good players left under contract, so it is not like someone is going to come in and change lots of things.
