The Big Kick-Off: New-look Shrewsbury Town are ready to put changes to the test

It is fair to say that Shrewsbury Town look like a completely different outfit ahead of the start of the 23/24 season.

Their squad has been overhauled on the pitch, they have a new set of coaching staff in the dugout and they have new faces in the boardroom.

The visit of Cheltenham Town this weekend, where the majority of Salop’s new coaching staff have come from, will be the official start of the new era.

The noises coming from the camp have been extremely positive – but as ever in football, the changes made at the club will only be judged by their success on the field.

Town announced they were changing the structure of the club, and Micky Moore became their first-ever director of football as the first domino fell into place during the summer changes.

Moore looks to have been an astute appointment having done very well during a five-year stint with the Robins.

They achieved a lot of success as a club with Moore in charge getting promoted out of League Two and staying in League One with one of the lowest budgets in the division.

He will be hoping to make a similar impact during his time at the Meadow.

And after Steve Cotterill left – Moore had to find a replacement.

After an extensive recruitment drive, which included several rounds of interviews, Matt Taylor arrived in Shropshire, he is now the team’s head coach rather than a manager.
