Matt Taylor praises 'excellent' Shrewsbury and explains Elliott Bennett absence
Matt Taylor thought his side were 'excellent' during their opening-day victory against Cheltenham - while revealing Elliott Bennett missed out after having his appendix removed.
Ryan Bowman's goal just after the break gave Shrewsbury Town an important three points as their EFL campaign kicked off at the Croud Meadow.
Taylor's side put in an impressive display on their way to victory while restricting the Robins to very little in the way of clear-cut chances and the boss thought Town were the 'superior' side on the day.
He said: "I am extremely pleased for the players and I hope it solidifies their belief in each other and also in what we are trying to do.
"I thought we were fluid with the ball while being good defensively for 75 minutes but you are always going to come up against those sorts of balls in this league when you are winning by just a single goal.
"I thought we looked really organised, I could go through the whole team and that is how superior I thought we were, against a really good team by the way who are experienced League One footballers.
