Dave Edwards: Shrewsbury stumble on their first step down Wembley Way

It was a really disappointing result to see Shrewsbury lose to Forest Green Rovers in the EFL Trophy.

With the way the manager came out in the press saying they would take the competition really seriously this season, it is frustrating to lose.

It is a really good chance to get into the latter stages and potentially end up at Wembley. Matt Taylor matched that ambition by naming a strong team and he managed to get some of the new signings on as well, but to lose to Forest Green was disappointing.

If they put in a performance that the team is capable of, it should have been a win for Town.

Unfortunately it did not happen. They were not ruthless and did not look like scoring. To then concede three goals at the other end is a bit of a disaster for the team. Something in their form needs to turn around quickly. They are not finishing games particularly well, in terms of scoring and conceding goals. That is something they need to look at.
