Matt Taylor reveals academy goal on historic night for Shrewsbury Town
Matt Taylor was delighted with the performance of his young Shrewsbury Town team as they beat Walsall in their final EFL Trophy game.
It was a historic evening for the club as Simba Nyamwanza became their youngest-ever player on his 16th birthday.
The Wrekin College student was one of six academy players to feature in the game that ended 3-2 to Salop.
And the Town boss believes bringing through their own players is something Shrewsbury needs to do as often as possible.
"There were six academy players in there, and one of those was an under-16, and he is the youngest player ever in the history of the football club which is amazing," he said.
"It shows hopefully the future Simba can have here, and that goes for all the other young players.
"I feel that one of the big things Micky and I spoke about was how we align better with the academy as a football club.
