TNS boss has tough selection posers

Manager Craig Harrison is facing some tough selection choices ahead of tonight's home Welsh Premier clash with Bangor City after The New Saints racked up seven goals in midweek.

Greg Draper scored five as the holders swept aside Holywell Town 7-1 in the second round of the Word Cup and Harrison has plenty to ponder on competition for places.

He said: "I made eight changes from the game before and, after the first 10 minutes when I felt we were a bit sloppy, everyone did really well for the 80 minutes after that.

"A lot of the players have put their hands up for Friday and given me a real headache. We've got such a strong squad that no-one can expect their place."

Pressing for a start is Draper who underlined his credentials with some excellent finishing against Cymru Alliance side Holywell.

The New Zealand striker likely to be included alongside fellow forward Mike Wilde tonight.

Harrison added: "In the last few weeks I've been trying to get Greg in the team as he gives us more goals.

"But as I said, a lot of players have given me problems and Steve Evans did well at the back in his first competitive game back for two-and-a-half years.

"I'm really pleased for Evo as he has been through a lot after two achilles injuries, which are enough to finish anyone's career, but he has worked really hard to get back."

Another forward, Jamie Reed, who has completed his 28-loan spell at Aberystwyth Town, will remain at Park Avenue, with the Saints having the option to recall the striker whenever needed.

TNS, top of the Welsh Premier on goal difference, have a chance to open up a three-point gap should they overcome Bangor in the only league fixture tonight (7.45pm).
