TNS ordered to stay ahead of the pack

Boss Craig Harrison has urged The New Saints to keep it clean as they look to stay ahead of the Welsh Premier League chasing pack tonight.

Defending champions TNS travel to Carmarthen Town this evening, just two weeks after defeating their rivals 2-0 at Park Hall.

TNS will be confident of completing a swift double, but will be mindful that Richmond Park has proved to be a tough hunting ground in the past.

They make the trip without striker Mike Wilde, who misses out with an ankle ligaments injury.

Manager Craig Harrison will be looking for another shut-out, after last Friday's 2-0 victory against Bangor City marked their fifth clean sheet in their eight league outings.

The win kept TNS top on goal difference from Bala Town, with Harrison saying: "Success is built on keeping clean sheets, it's the foundation.

"When you look at all the big leagues, more often than not the teams that win the league are the ones who have conceded the least goals, not the ones who have scored more goals.

"We have now kept five clean sheets in our eight league games; the defence have been fantastic and it is a habit we want to continue."

Carmarthen's form has been mixed, winning just two of their eight outings. They drew 0-0 at Haverfordwest last weekend.

Meanwhile Newtown, stung by Saturday's last-gasp 3-2 defeat at home to Bala Town, bid to dust themselves down for a tricky trip to Airbus UK tonight.

They will be without skipper Shane Sutton, who faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after breaking his leg against the Lakesiders.

The defender "I am just gutted. I have been working really hard off the pitch. Probably I was the fittest and strongest I have felt when playing and that happened.

"The amount of calls and messages I have had from people has been touching, the phone hasn't stopped."
