TNS told to finish their Champions League job

Boss Craig Harrison is confident the New Saints can finish the job in tonight's Champions League second leg clash away to San Marino minnows Tre Penne.

Despite dominating the first leg of their first qualifying round tie, the Welsh Premier champions could only manage a 2-1 victory.

But, such was their performance that the Saints will be backing themselves to prevail in the return at the San Marino stadium.

They are looking to set up a meeting with Cyprus champions APOEL Nicosia in the next round.

An upbeat Harrison said: "If we play like we did in the first leg, then I am sure we will progress.

"The second leg will be a different kind of game as they've got to look to score and win the game, which may play into our hands a little.

"I expect they will come out a bit more, so the game will be a bit more open and stretched and allow us space in behind.

"With the pace we've got, I always fancy us to score goals, and we'll be going over there to win the game."

The TNS boss will ponder whether to make changes to his starting line-up.

But one player who impressed last week was midfielder Jon Routledge, who enjoyed an excellent debut following his arrival from Dumbarton.

Harrison said: "Jon was fantastic, he looked as though he been in the side for years instead of making his debut."
