Matty Williams calls time on his TNS stay

The New Saints' Champions League goalscoring hero Matty Williams has departed Park Hall.

Williams leaves the Saints after a six-year spell in which he netted 49 league goals in just 125 Welsh Premier League outings.

He will also be fondly recalled for a goal against then Hungarian champions Videoton in a Champions League second round qualifier – a strike that took the Welsh side to extra-time.

Williams, 33, began his career with Manchester United where he was prolific at youth team and reserve level, playing alongside former Old Trafford youngsters Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, Kieran Richardson, Phil Bardsley, Giuseppe Rossi and Gerard Piqué.

After stints with Notts County, Tamworth and Burton Albion, Williams joined Rhyl where he spent two seasons before moving to Park Hall.

The Welshman will also be remembered for further European strikes against B36 Torshavn and CSKA Sofia and a brace in last year's Welsh Cup final against Newtown.

He won six Welsh Premier League titles, four Welsh Cups and three Word Cups during his time in Oswestry.
