The defending champions maintained their 100 per cent record with a 2-1 win at newcomers Cardiff Met University in midweek to sit three points clear at the top.

Tomorrow they will set their sights on an Airbus side that, following a summer of departures including boss Andy Preece, is languishing second from bottom following three straight defeats.

The Wingmakers are now managed by their assistant Andy Thomas, a good pal of Harrison who himself is a former Airbus manager.

Having been made to battle against Cardiff Met, Harrison will not be taking anything for granted.

He praised the resolve of his side who, having put 10 goals past Rhyl a few days before, needed to dig deep against the students on Wednesday night.

"These games, when you have to grind out results, are the ones that win you the league," he said.

"Cardiff Met are a very good team, fit and strong, the best we have come against so far, and gave it a good go right to the end. They will be a tough side to beat on their ground, so we're happy to come away with the three points."

Forward Scott Quigley faces a fitness check after picking up a knock in midweek, but Harrison has plenty of options.

Wes Fletcher, the former Burnley and York striker, has signed to bolster the ranks, while defender Phil Baker and winger Jamie Mullan – who were on the bench in midweek – are now fully fit.

Airbus are forced into a change at the back with young defender Tom Matthews, on loan from TNS, not permitted to figure against his own club.

After suffering back-to-back defeats, Newtown will want to get back on track at home clash to Cefn Druids tomorrow (3pm).

Having made a creditable start, it has been a disappointing few days on their travels for the Robins whose 1-0 loss at GAP Connah's Quay was followed by 2-1 reverse at Bangor City.

Boss Chris Hughes was fturstrated to return empty handed, particularly as his side had a one man advantage for a large part of the game.

"Bangor were there for the taking. We would have been disappointed with a point, but we've managed to lose all three and that is very, very disappointing and frustrating," he said.

"It's a game we've lost, and one of them where you are wondering how because we controlled large parts of the game.

"For their goals, we have been poor defensively, while we've got to be better in the final third.

"We've got into good areas, our approach play has been fine, but what has been our achilles heal in the first four games is the final pass and final decision, and it is frustrating for everyone."

Defender Kieran Mills-Evans is suspended after being sent off against Bangor.
