The New Saints chasing victory to break record

The New Saints continue their gruelling schedule as the unbeaten Welsh Premier League leaders look to set a new league record against Airbus UK at Park Hall.

The defending champions have reeled off 15 straight wins in the league this term, putting them level with Bangor City who had a 15-match sequence at the start of the 2010-2011 season.

And that could be eclipsed this evening as the Saints chase a top-flight British record for successive league wins by overcoming lowly Airbus.

The Oswestry side are firm favourites to prevail in a top versus bottom encounter, but boss Craig Harrison – who will face his former club – admits it's been a tough spell due to his team's success.

That run continued in midweek with a 1-0 win at Gap Connah's Quay as TNS booked their place in the final of the Nathaniel MG Cup to take their tally to 20 wins in all competitions.

"Over the last two weeks the lads have played six games and there's been a lot of travelling back and forth to Scotland and back and forth to Carmarthen, as well as the two cup games at Connah's Quay," said Harrison.

"It's been tough, the list of people who aren't 100 per cent fit goes on and on, but the lads have been fantastic.

"With the run we're on, we don't need to motivate the players, it's more a case of calming them down."
