With Connah’s Quay Nomads facing a tricky trip to Bangor City, and leaders Llandudno not playing until the following day, the Saints have a chance to take over at the top should they prevail against the students.

Having lost to Bangor City on the opening night, the defending champions have quickly got back on track with three victories in the league.

In all, they have won four on the trot including the IRN-BRU penalty shootout success against Livingston, and boss Scott Ruscoe is looking for more of the same at the Cyncoed Stadium.

After his side’s 4-0 win over Cefn Druids on the Friday, the Saints chief took the chance to run the rule over the students who defeated Aberystwyth Town 2-0 the following day.

“They are a good, young and fit side who pass the ball well, although it was difficult to tell just how good they were as Aber had a player sent off early on,” said Ruscoe.

“We’re expecting a difficult game as they have a tight pitch, their fans get behind them and they don’t concede too many goals. But it’s important we keep building the momentum.”

Chris Mariott and Steven Saunders remain out.
