The New Saints boss Scott Ruscoe expecting tricky game

The New Saints will look to shrug off their third defeat of the season when they head to Bala Town for a tricky Welsh Premier League assignment tonight.

Despite leading 2-0, they were downed 4-2 at home to Newtown on Saturday after having Robbie Parry sent off.

The midfielder will now miss this evening’s tussle as the Saints tackle an in-form Bala side that has lost just once in 11 league outings, and has reeled off four straight wins.

“They are a decent side, who are well organised and physical, and we’ve got to be at our best to get a win there,” said Saints boss Scott Ruscoe.

“Having seen our result against Newtown, they will be up for it. But we trained on New Year’s Day and will be ready to go again as we look to bounce back.”

Despite the defeat, the Saints remain six points clear and will be keen to keep the chasing pack at arm’s length.

Ruscoe admitted the defending champions lost their way against Newtown after a bright start.

“We passed the ball well for the first 20 minutes, went two up, but then stopped doing the things we’re good at,” he said.

TNS’ home semi-final tie with Dumbarton in the IRN-BRU Cup will be played on Saturday, February 17 with a 7.35pm kick off for live coverage by S4C.
