The New Saints handed tie at Nomads
The New Saints have been handed a testing trip to one of their chief adversaries Connah's Quay Nomads in the quarter-final of the Welsh Cup.
After overcoming Caernarfon Town 3-1 in the last 16, the Saints – last season's beaten finalists – will again hit the road for the pick of the fifth-round ties on the first weekend of March.
The sides currently occupy the top two slots in the Welsh Premier League, and Scott Ruscoe's men will be under no illusions they will have their work cut out at one of their least favoured haunts.
The sides have already met twice at the Deeside Stadium this season, sharing a 2-2 draw in the league, before the Saints edged a 1-0 victory in the semi-final of the Nathaniel MG Cup.
And the rivals will again come face to face a week before the cup clash when their paths cross in the league on Saturday, February 24.
Newtown are also on the road to Llandudno, while minnows Penydarren BGC face a daunting trip to Bangor City – 3-2 conquerors of brave Llanrhaeadr last weekend.
Carmarthen Town are home to Aberystwyth in the other quarter final tie.
