West Brom were today handed a tough start to the new Premier League campaign with last season's top two the first visitors to the Hawthorns.

The Baggies will open up Tony Pulis' first full season in charge with a home game against last season's runners-up, Manchester City on August 8.

And Chelsea will be the next side to visit on August 22. Those tricky games will come either side of a trip to newly-promoted Watford on August 15.

Pulis' men will complete the opening month by facing Stoke at the Britannia Stadium on August 29.

Baggies fans face a lengthy trip on Boxing Day, when they travel to South Wales to face Swansea.

They will kick off 2016 at home to Stoke on January 2. The season's first derby with Villa will come at Villa Park on September 19.

And the return game at the Hawthorns has been scheduled for January 23.

Those fixtures are certain to be highly-charged, after Pulis's men lost two West Midlands derbies in a week at Villa Park last season.

They include an FA Cup quarter-final that included a post-match pitch invasion that landed the home side with a hefty fine.

The Baggies' final away game will be an inviting trip to Premier League new-boys AFC Bournemouth on May 7.

Their season will conclude at home with Liverpool the visitors on May 15.

Albion's trip to Manchester United will be on November 7 and they will travel to Premier League champions Chelsea for an evening game on January 13.

The Baggies will be looking for a vast improvement on last season's opening, when they had to wait until September 21 for their opening victory under Alan Irvine. That came 1-0 at Tottenham.

Pulis is still looking for new signings to bolster his squad for his first full campaign at the helm, after he turned around the club's fortunes last season.

New challenge - it's West Brom boss Tony Pulis' first full season in charge at the Hawthorns.
