Three wins in their last four games sees Wolves up to 13th in the Championship and six points off the play-offs at the halfway point of the season.

Now they face successive home games against rejuvenated Peterborough on Boxing Day and Mick McCarthy's Ipswich on Saturday.

Wolves are hoping for a late surge at the box office for Boxing Day, with the Peterborough gate heading for a crowd of 23,000, while the return of McCarthy is set to attract between 27,000 and 28,000.

And the manager, who is hoping Bjorn Sigurdarson can shake off the thigh injury that saw him miss Friday's 2-1 win at Blackpool, is looking to continue their surge in front of an expectant Molineux.

Solbakken said: "In the last four games, I think we have seen we're back on track again.

"We are looking better and better and, hopefully, we can continue that in front of a big crowd and we can get three more points.

"After the bad run we had, it was mentally tough for us but we had a good win at Blackpool on Friday and, hopefully, we can build on it."

Solbakken is mindful of basement side Peterborough's improvement, after they made it back-to-back victories by following up their 2-1 win at leaders Cardiff with a 5-4 success against Bolton on Saturday.

He said: "We have to look at it as one game at a time. That's against Peterborough on Boxing Day and everyone thinks that should be three points, but I have seen their game from Cardiff when they won 2-1.

"That's Cardiff's only home defeat and that's the Championship for you – there are no easy games."

In-form goalkeeper Carl Ikeme added: "Everyone expects us to win the next two games but, if we produce a lackadaisical performance, we will be punished."

Wolves will hold a minute's applause before the Peterborough game in memory of George Showell, who passed away last week.
