Dean Saunders unassured of his future at Wolves

Wolves boss Dean Saunders today admitted he has no assurances on his future at the club.

Like predecessors Mick McCarthy and Stale Solbakken, Saunders is on a rolling one-year deal.

But chief executive Jez Moxey has insisted all discussions on the future of Saunders and his players will wait until the end of the season when the club's fate is known.

Asked if he had been told what happens at the end of the season, Saunders said: "I don't know – you'd have to ask the chairman about next season if we go down.

"Am I immune from the sack? I don't know. Nothing surprises you in football.

"I've got employers, and if they're happy with you, you carry on; if they're not, you're in the garden.

"We've not discussed it. I need to get us out of it and there's lots of work that goes into getting the club right from top to bottom.

"As a manager, I understand you have to get results."

Saunders will have been in charge for 20 games by the end of the campaign and has so far picked up 17 points from 16 matches.

Chairman Steve Morgan was hoping for a 'bounce' factor from his appointment.

But only Millwall and Blackburn, with 15 points, have gathered fewer points from the same period out of the current bottom 10.

Morgan was at Compton on Sunday, when he spent time with age groups from the under-10s to the senior squad.

Saunders said: "He's frustrated like anybody.

"He cares about the club and the team, he put his faith in me and I've got to pay him back."
