Wolves ready to gamble on starting Bakary Sako

Wolves manager Dean Saunders is considering throwing Player of the Year Bakary Sako in from the start in Saturday's relegation D-Day showdown at Brighton.

The £3million French winger made his comeback in last weekend's 2-1 defeat against Burnley as a 59th-minute substitute for Bjorn Sigurdarson.

It was a result that combined with wins for Peterborough and Barnsley left Wolves needing a footballing miracle to stay up.

Nothing but a win will do on Saturday, and Saunders believes the risk in doing further damage to the 25-year-old is a gamble worth taking with the stakes so high.

He said: "We might have to risk him. If his hamstring goes, he's got all summer to get over it."

Meanwhile, Saunders insisted he will make sure the players are fully focused on giving one final effort in what is expected to be the last game for the club for several senior players.

He said: "I'll have a look at the mentality of the lads, how they're looking in training and who's up for it and believing they can do it," said Saunders.

"I'll make sure none of them give up. Some will believe and some won't, but I have got to get the message across.

"We have to try to win it and if the worst happens, we start again."

Saunders added: "I'll pick the team tomorrow in my head and we'll try to find the best way of winning.

"Jamie O'Hara is back available again, but with all the injuries we've got I haven't many options.

"It's not always the right thing to do to pick an inbalanced team and we haven't got many out-and-out goalscorers left available."
