Doyle to miss out on Wolves' Scottish tour
Kevin Doyle looks set to miss Wolves' tour of Scotland.
The Ireland international, who has been left behind from the team's training camp at the University of Stirling due to a groin injury, suffered a setback yesterday at Compton.
He definitely misses tonight's opening friendly against East Fife and looks to be a major doubt for Saturday's trip to Livingston.
"I think it's unlikely that he will join the group here," said head coach Kenny Jackett.
"He felt his groin in training again yesterday at Compton and at present there are no plans to bring him up here."
Doyle has attracted plenty of transfer speculation this summer, with Celtic continuing to monitor his situation.
But Jackett stressed the striker's absence is entirely due to injury.
"There aren't any negotiations regarding Kevin – things are very quiet at the moment," said the head coach.
"He flagged up his groin injury at the back end of last week and it seems now it will keep him out of this tour. I would expect his groin injury to only last a few more days."
Meanwhile, Jackett wants to keep £1m-rated Richard Stearman, who is reportedly set to become eligible to play for Ireland through his maternal grandparents as Ipswich weigh up a move.
The Wolverhampton-born defender was quoted in February as saying he was applying for Irish citizenship.
"He's another I feel has the pedigree to do well," said Jackett. "He's shown a good attitude and an appetite, so we'll see, but we won't be letting people go lightly.
"There has been speculation because he had a successful loan spell at Ipswich but we're not going to necessarily let him go for the sake of it – it has to be right for us. Right now, he's in my plans and I'm looking forward to seeing him play.
"But if something develops later on, I'll understand."
Jackett said there have been no developments on Bakary Sako's move to Fulham. "It's all been very quiet this week," he said. "There haven't been any further enquiries."
