Danny Batth's vow as he goes under the knife
Wolves captain Danny Batth is targeting the opening game of next season for his comeback from injury as he heads for surgery.
The Molineux skipper reckons he can be better than ever when he comes back from his season-ending foot fracture.
And Batth has revealed his rehabilitation work has already started as he looks to lead the team out in the new campaign, despite being ruled out of action until well into pre-season.
Batth will be a frustrated spectator as Wolves look to upset the odds on Saturday by claiming a place in the Champions play-offs on the final day of the campaign.
But the 24-year-old said: "Sometimes it is about the kind of person you are as to how you deal with things and manage things.
"I had a bad shoulder injury in my first year full-time in the academy and that took eight months.
"I was working in the gym and I broke down and then came back again and got myself back in good shape and this will be no different.
"It's a case of going for the operation and building up post-op.
"I have been doing work already on the damaged side of the foot before going under the knife which will hopefully help reduce the time I need to come back.
"I could have gone away all summer, come back in pre-season, and maybe done it then.
"It's obviously disappointing to end the season now but to get this operation and the work in the summer gives me a good chance to be ready for the start of next season."
Wolves need to beat Millwall on Saturday and hope other results go their way if they are to gatecrash the top six, and Batth admits he will find it difficult on the sidelines.
He said: "Whatever happens we will want to finish the regular season with a win against Millwall."
