Strikers shooting for Wolves futures
Goal-shy strikers Bjorn Sigurdarson and Adam Le Fondre are playing for their Wolves futures, Kenny Jackett has stated.
And the Wolves boss has challenged his team to create more chances for the pair and fellow forward Joe Mason.
No decisions have yet been made on whether Sigurdarson will be offered a new contract in the summer, or whether Wolves will take up their option on signing on-loan Cardiff City striker Le Fondre on a permanent deal.
Sigurdarson hasn't scored in 13 appearances since returning from injury and last netted for Wolves in August 2013.
Le Fondre's last strike came in October, while the goals have also dried up for Mason after his initial burst of two in his first two Wolves games.
"It is a concern, definitely," Jackett told the Express & Star. "The goals have dried up. But us getting them chances and service from the wide areas, passes from midfield – they're all things we look at as well.
"For those three guys, it's few and far between in terms of opportunities. But sometimes as a forward you've got to make something out of nothing as well, and create a chance for yourself."
Sigurdarson has expressed his desire to win a new deal at Molineux.
Le Fondre has found the net three times in 24 games, although 14 of those appearances have been from the bench.
Jackett has made no secret of his wish to bring in strikers in the summer.
But he hasn't ruled out either or both of the pair being at Molineux next season.
"Yes, they're playing for their future," he added. "For all of them (strikers), no professional footballer wants to do poorly – they all want to do well.
"You have to speak to them honestly and (offer) some optimism and encouragement.
"The way football is, there's always the next game and things can turn around.
"They have to be strong enough and determined enough mentally to look forward and see the next games as an opportunity to put that right, along with the team to give them the service they need."
