George Saville: Put a smile back on Wolves fans' faces

A poor run of one win in just seven games leaves Wolves with just three remaining fixtures in which to try and end an underwhelming season on a high.

Rotherham were visiting Molineux today ahead of a trip to Nottingham Forest next weekend and then a final-day home clash with Sheffield Wednesday.

And Saville said the final knockings of the 2016/17 season certainly wasn't without its importance.

"We need to show a bit of character," he said. "The fans want to see us win a few games and we want to win a few games.

"For the next three we've got to do exactly that and put some smiles on people's faces. It's about building momentum for next season. You don't want to go into the summer negatively in the manager's thoughts because he'll be looking to next season now.

"Everyone's got a chance of playing in that first game next season so that's what we're looking for."

Saville has been a regular in the team since being recalled from a loan spell at Millwall.

He feels he now belongs at Championship level – and like hie team mates is hoping to get as much experience in the league as possible.

"It's a harder league, but yes I do think I belong at this level," Saville added.

"I've still got a lot to learn. It's a lot tougher than League One and a good level to be playing at.

"There's a lot of us playing to prove we're good enough at this level.

"We're young so we haven't had five or six years in the Championship. Getting experience as quickly as you can will benefit you in the long term.

"We've got a lot of young players with a lot of ability and a lot of potential.

"I think it's promising that we can look forward to next season.

"We've had a lot of bad luck this year, don't forget that. with injuries and players coming and going.

"It's been a difficult season but I think there are positives we can take out of it."
