Wolves boss Paul Lambert: Don't get Molineux stage fright

"Don't get stage fright" is the message from Paul Lambert as Wolves return to Molineux tomorrow for the first of a vital four-day double header.

Cardiff City are the visitors as Lambert's team return to action with a week that could define their season.

With fellow relegation rivals Nottingham Forest due at Molineux on Tuesday and then a trip to 19th-placed Bristol City to follow next Saturday, Wolves could almost guarantee safety or be dragged towards the bottom three in the next week.

After 10 points from a possible 12 before the international break, confidence is high. But Lambert knows Wolves must address their dreadful home form, with six of their last nine at Molineux.

And he said: "It shouldn't be a stadium where you get stage fright.

"It should be a stadium where you go and enjoy playing in the atmosphere, especially when it's full. You should embrace it.

"If you want to get anywhere in this league, then your home form has to be up there. I think Fulham were unbeaten in about 17 at home.

"That is the kind of form you have to be on to be at the top end of the table.

"That is when you will get more people coming to watch you."

Goalscoring has been a big problem at home, with Wolves scoring just three in their last seven Molineux encounters. And only Wigan have scored fewer than Wolves' 20 at home this season.

Lambert added: "If we can play the way we have been doing we should pick up a lot more points.

"The form does not match the performances. They have not married each other, the way we were playing and not winning games.

"We were dominating games and it was just the goalscoring. You can't have the dominance we had and not score. That is why I didn't panic or get flustered. I knew we were playing well.

"It's been the goalscoring. OK, against Birmingham we never started well. We gave away two goals. Rotherham was the worst game but the most important thing was the win. We just had to finish off our good work."
