Wolves hail season ticket sales but fall short of refund target

Wolves season ticket sales are up more than 40 per cent compared to this time last year – but supporters have missed out on a partial refund.

The window for renewals closed on Wednesday night with the total tickets sold standing at 15,256, still some way short of the 16,500 target which would have entitled fans to a rebate of up to £119 under an innovative scheme launched by the club this year.

But the sales were still hailed by managing director Laurie Dalrymple as a “fantastic show of support” with Wolves already guaranteed to have their highest number of season ticket holders since the 2011-12 campaign, their last in the Premier League. The number of junior tickets sold has also jumped by 1,155.

“I want to say thank you to each and every supporter who has purchased a season ticket,” said Dalrymple.

“In setting the prices for the 2017/18 season, we wanted to both reward the loyalty of our existing supporter base but also try and encourage more fans – and particularly the next generation.

“In that respect we are particularly pleased to have attracted so many junior supporters who have purchased a season ticket.

“I suppose there is a slight disappointment that the target wasn’t reached to trigger the part refunds, and, as I said on several occasions, there is nothing I would have liked more than to have seen those cheques being sent out!

“But it is still a terrific figure, and already the highest seen since the 2011/12 Premier League season with over two months of selling time still remaining.”

Wolves sold a total of 14,500 season tickets during the Early Bird window but sales have since slowed and the refund target deadline had already been extended by two weeks.

Those supporters who purchased tickets during the early window will still be entitled to some merchandise cash benefits depending on how long they have held a season ticket.

The relocation period for season ticket holders will now begin at 10am on Monday, with sales resuming later in the day.
