Nuno confirms Ruben Neves deal is close
New Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo has confirmed that the club are close to signing Porto midfielder Ruben Neves.
A £15million fee was agreed last weekend and the club, the player and his agent Jorge Mendes have been finalising details of his contract this week.
It's believed he will put pen to paper on a £40,000 contract in the next two days and be announced as a Wolves player before the squad leaves for a pre-season trip to Austria on Monday.
Nuno, speaking to the media after today's open training session at Compton Park which was attended by 500 fans, was asked if he was confident the Neves deal would be completed.
"Yes I think so," he said. "Ruben is a very good player who can bring new things to our squad.
"I know him well, I worked with him last year. He's a good player. When a player aged 17 years old is captain of a big team like Porto in a Champions League game, it means a lot."
Was it hard to persuade Neves to move to a Championship club: "No, he was very pleased to come, it's a good challenge for him also."
It's understood that a deal to sign Neves' team mate Willy Boly on a season-long loan has been all-but completed and should be announced in the next 24 hours.
The 26-year-old will become the fifth signing of the summer – all defenders – after the captures of Ryan Bennett, Roderick Miranda, Phil Ofosu-Ayeh and Barry Douglas.
It's believed Nuno is considering playing three at the back next season, hence the large number of centre backs at the club including captain Danny Batth and Kortney Hause.
