Miranda wants to cut out the ‘scrappy’ goals they suffered in the 3-3 draw on Tuesday night.

Wolves travel to Nottingham Forest tomorrow and 26-year-old centre-back Miranda wants to tighten up at the back while remaining a potent force going forward.

“Against Bristol City we didn’t have the luck of the game,” he said. “We tried to score all game, and we did that, but we also suffered three goals.

“We have to work harder on our set-pieces to try and improve that.

“We need to keep improving and, in the next game, perform the same going forward and defensively do better – not concede the scrappy goals that we did on Tuesday.

“We try to win all of our games. We are doing good but we can always do better.”

The £2.5million summer signing from Portuguese club Rio Ave, added: “On Saturday our focus will be that. We will try to win, try to not suffer any goals and try to score as many as possible. That’s our goal.”

And Miranda says the squad takes pride in their defending. “I think the credit has to go to the whole team because the defensive work starts with the striker,” he said.

“The whole team has to take the credit. Just like when we score, sometimes the move starts from the goalkeeper so that shows how we play as a team.

“We’ve already earned four clean sheets this season but our mentality is to improve on that.

“We try to go through every game without conceding any goals. That’s our mentality going into every match – play a good game, try not to suffer any goals and try to score as much as possible.”

Meanwhile, opponents Forest have faced their own problems at the back with six of the 11 goals Mark Warburton’s side have conceded in the Championship coming from set-pieces.

The manager had warned that two of the three goals the Reds conceded in their 3-1 defeat at Sheffield Wednesday last weekend had been ‘soft’. However, they claimed a clean sheet at the Stadium of Light on Tuesday, beating Sunderland 1-0.
