Goals from Diogo Jota, Romain Saiss, Ruben Vinagre and Leo Bonatini saw Wolves move to the second in the Championship.

They produced some blistering football at the Pirelli Stadium and could easily have doubled their winning margin.

A delighted Nuno said: "It was a good game, a good result, a good performance.

"It means a lot, coming back from a bad result, knowing that you cannot stay there in that moment of sadness and thinking, but just react. The boys did this today – I'm very proud of them.

"Good possession, I think we controlled the game very well.

"We had the momentum from the first time we arrived in the Burton box, we score. Everything changes from then.

"It's important to keep going and believing and increasing the result. The boys played really, really well today.

"Everybody knows what it means to go with the result into the international break. I have a lot of experience of that and it's very important.

"The first goal was very important. Great combination, a good run and a good finish."

Wolves sit on 23 points from their opening 11 league games.

Nuno isn't getting carried away but said Wolves' work ethic will stand them in good stead this season.

"We have a long way to go and hard work to do," he added. "We're building something based on an idea, a philosophy of what we want to play. This is step one.

"We have a long way to go but we are in the right way. That should make us very proud and the way the team spirit is in the squad on a daily basis, the way they work very hard makes you say we can do it.

"But we cannot ever 'go high'. Feet on the ground – Monday we go back to work."

Helder Costa played more than 50 minutes as he made a substantial comeback following the 20 minutes he got in Wednesday's 2-0 defeat to Sheffield United when he was withdrawn in an early tactical switch.

Nuno said of the winger: "The plan was for this situation (50 minutes) to happen on Wednesday. We considered all the options, it's about having all the players ready to go. Ryan Bennett, Jack Price and Connor Ronan came in, it's about the squad."

The boss also revealed that Barry Douglas missed the game with an injury picked up in that United defeat.
