Only a few hundred tickets remain on sale for the West Midlands derby clash.

Wolves' average attendance has rocketed by 5,000 this season and only one away game – a Tuesday night trip to Hull for which Wolves still took 1,500 fans – hasn't sold out.

Dalrymple said: "The numbers we’ve had are amazing.

"I’m extremely appreciative of the support. When we did the budgets last year and forecast how we’d do this season, attendances have exceeded expectations.

"There seems a real desire to get behind the club. I really hope that continues through the season – we’ll continue to do as much as we can to garner that togetherness.

"I think Villa’s going to be a sell-out as well so continuing that momentum after that will be really important and there’s a hectic schedule for the rest of the month.

"We need the fans to come with us. It’s a lot to expect them just to go along on the performance of the team.

"The away support has been unbelievable. At Burton the noise level...when the team walked out I turned around to (director) John Bowater and said it’s deafening – and we hadn’t even kicked a ball yet."

Wolves have enjoyed a great start to the season and are second in the Championship.

Dalrymple says the minimum target for Nuno's team is a sixth-placed finish.

"If you say play-offs people might think we should be shooting to get out of this league, but don’t forget we finished 15th last year," he said of Wolves' target.

"So there’s a strong argument that to go from 15th into the play-off mix would be a strong development, year on year.

"Then you look at the quality of the players and the coaching setup, it probably recalibrated – certainly in my mind – that the minimum of top six is where we’re looking.

"If we keep turning in performances like at Burton then the table will almost take care of itself. That’s the challenge. Every game is a completely different one and as long as we keep putting in that level of performance and commitment we’ll be where we need to be."
