Diogo Jota geared up for Wolves' big week

Diogo Jota says his scoring exploits will mean nothing if he doesn't keep his form up – as he gears up for the busiest week of his career.

Wolves face QPR today, Norwich and Tuesday and Fulham on Friday.

Portuguese winger Jota says recovery will be key in the next seven days as Wolves try and cement their place at the top of the league.

"We play Saturday, Tuesday and Friday so it will be a great week," he said. "In Portugal we don’t have that.

"It’s the first time we’ll have so many games in a short period but I know we have strategies and (the staff will) help us recover for the games.

"There’s a good feeling – we’re playing well but the most important thing is to keep growing as a team and keep winning games of course."

Jota is Wolves' joint-top scorer with Leo Bonatini after netting seven times in his first 14 appearances for the club.

He's keen to keep that form going.

"I didn’t expect such a good start like this but of course I want to keep going because if I stopped here it won’t matter in the end," he added.

"Each week is a different week. We’ve played teams who want to keep the ball and teams who want to destroy our game. It will be more of the same in the next games.

"We work during the week to try to be better than the other team who’ll play. If they are more physical we train to be better on that part.

"We want to carry on (top of the table) but game by game, that’s there since the beginning of the season and we’ll continue.

"We can’t think ‘we’re top’, we just take it game by game.

"When the players believe in the manager’s idea it’s better for everyone. I think that’s happening."

Jota was rested for Tuesday's Carabao Cup defeat to Manchester City but he watched the game and thought his team mates were 'outstanding'.

The 20-year-old Atletico Madrid loanee said: "It was an amazing game, the guys were outstanding, they fight and were unlucky in the shoot-out.

"Of course I wanted to play, everyone wants to play every game, but it’s a long season and the manager makes his choice for the team.

"If I’m in the team today I will give my best."
