Danny Batth: Wolves want to beat everyone

Beating every team in the league to hit 100 points are Wolves’ targets as they look to end their season in style this weekend.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s team travel to face already-relegated Sunderland – the only side Wolves have not beaten in the league this season – who are now now without a manager after sacking Chris Coleman.

The Black Cats are big outsiders to win the game at 5/1 with some bookies having only won twice at the Stadium of Light all season. Wolves have beaten 22 other teams in the league at least once, but drew 0-0 with Sunderland before Christmas.

Skipper Danny Batth said: “The manager’s massive on it, we want to prove we’re the best by beating every team in the league. We knew Sunderland on the last day would be a tough game – we’ll go there full of confidence but we certainly won’t be looking at the league table.

“It’s all about the performance and making sure we get a result.

“Sunderland have got nothing to lose and a lot of their players will be wanting to impress for next season.

“We want to finish on a high.”

Defender Barry Douglas, who has provided 14 assists this season, said: “There’s still an objective. The gaffer will 100 per cent be on at us, there’s no let up and we’ll be training hard. To reach 100 would be a nice tally to round off the season and it gives us another ambition to achieve.”

Only five second-tier teams have reached 100 points since three points for a win were introduced in 1981.

Goalkeeper John Ruddy, who has kept 24 clean sheets and won the Golden Glove award last week, said it would be important to end with some momentum to take into the summer.

He said of the recent title-winning celebrations: “

We’re looking forward to Sunderland, hopefully getting to the 100-point mark and going into the summer on a high but also making sure we’re ready to go next season.”
