The 2017/18 Championship winners are yet to lead in the top flight this season, drawing with Everton and losing at Leicester.

They now play title-holders Manchester City, with Nuno hoping his side can show the improvements needed to succeed in England’s top flight.

The 44-year-old said: “Yes it is a big learning curve, it seems we have to realise that you know.

“But football is the same in every competition. If you are the one that scores first, it changes it totally.”

Wolves hit the woodwork three times during their 2-0 loss to Leicester on Saturday.

Nuno rued their lack of luck, admitting after the game that his side need to be more clinical in the final third.

However, there were positives to take into their next fixture at home to City this Saturday, he said.

“We started well and controlled the game and created enough chances (against Leicester),” Nuno said. “Of course we are disappointed (with the loss) but at the same time this is the way.

“We have to have that moment of quality, talent, we must believe we can score in every moment of the game, in the beginning, the middle and the end.

“There was plenty of positives to take.

“I think we played good for the first 75 minutes.

“If there is a ‘but’ then we must score, but at the same time we are going to do it again so this is the way.”

City are rumoured to be planning a £60million swoop for Ruben Neves in the transfer January window.

However, they are just the latest club to be linked with the services of the 21-year-old, who signed a new five-year-contract with Molineux over the summer.

Meanwhile, City’s Oleksandr Zinchenko – who rejected a £16m move to Wolves this summer – is reportedly set to join Real Betis on loan.

He has not featured in the squad for City’s first two games of the season.
