Leo Bonatini's delight at ending Wolves goal drought
Leo Bonatini spoke of his relief at ending his goal drought – as he and Wolves target their first Premier League win this weekend.
The 24-year-old Brazilian netted his first Wolves goal since December when scoring in the 2-0 Carabao Cup win at Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday night.
After earning their first victory of the campaign Wolves now turn their attention to this weekend's game at West Ham where they'll try to pick up their first three-point haul in the Premier League.
Nuno said of this weekend's London Stadium clash: "We're confident – we respect West Ham but we'll go there to play our football, play our game. We believe in what Nuno gives us and everything that he did for us last season – and now for this season as well.
"We're trying to do exactly what he asks us to do and I'm sure we'll do well.
"It's a very difficult game against West Ham. All the team mates are pushing each other. The good things will come."
Bonatini said the club kept total faith in him during his barren spell in front of goal, with the striker's number one priority being to help the team.
But he admitted it was a relief to finally find the target again.
"I was relieved, the first goal of the season is always special.
"The pressure was more from outside than inside the club, it was more from me trying to score, trying to help.
"I really wanted to do it to help my team mates but no one (in the club) has doubts about my job (so) I knew I could enjoy my football.
"I hope I can score more – last season I scored loads until December. I wanted to do it from January to May and score more, it's good for all of us if I score.
"As a striker it's my job to score goals. I'm not thinking just to score because I know I won't score in every game, I just want to help my team mates with passes, running, opening space and everything. The team is more important than just one player.
"We're a family here and we're fighting for everyone.
"It's always good to score but it's always good to help my team mates. It was a good night, we knew we were going to play a very good team – we knew them from last season.
"We did our job and what we needed to do. We did everything right.
"We tried to play our game, it's what we're trying to do in the Premier League. Nuno has his own way to play and we believe in it.
"We're in the right way and we're working hard. We had some minutes today and we're going to be on the same level as the other boys.
"We have loads of games in the season and we'll all need to help and be at a similar level."
