Wolves, quite literally, weathered the storm to beat Bournemouth 2-0 at Molineux, with Raul Jimenez and Ivan Cavaleiro getting the goals.

They are now seventh in the top flight, and Nuno said: "I'm very proud, very proud of the boys because they made it possible – they achieved it through their hard work.

"I'm happy for our fans because we achieved something together that is very special.

"It's the most difficult competition in the world, so we have to be proud.

"I'm very proud because we were versatile enough to see the game was about being compact.

"It was about being robust, balanced and defending – waiting for the right moments to try to achieve what we did, the win.

"The clean sheet was very important – very, very important."

Rain swirled around the ground, with the pitch getting increasingly difficult to play on as the game progressed.

But Wolves stood firm and, after Jimenez's early strike, wrapped up proceedings as Cavaleiro slotted home in added-on time.

Nuno added: "It was cold, wasn't it? Credit to everybody – the fans and especially for the players on the pitch.

"It was very hard to play football, very hard for both teams.

"Credit to them for giving us such an amazing game. Whoever loves football, loves these types of games."
