Nuno: Difficult run made Wolves stronger

Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo believes their so-far perfect December is down to a tough couple of months prior making his players stronger.

Nuno's side have won three Premier League outings on the spin – for the first time in the club's history.

But they endured a run of five defeats from six matches through late October and November, which was a test of character the old gold chief thinks his squad have passed with flying colours.

"I truly believe that you have to take things as they come – keep on going, keep on believing in the daily work that you do, the way you want to do things, how you want to play," said Nuno.

"There were difficult moments, but we didn't go off track.

"We kept going and sometimes those moments make you realise more, think more and try to find more solutions.

"The boys, clearly, their character and acceptance of things were amazing.

"Even bad moments can make you stronger. That is what I'm seeing now. I'm very proud."

Wolves have beaten Bournemouth, Newcastle and Chelsea this month.

Their next test is a big one as high-flying Liverpool visit Molineux on Friday.

Saturday's 2-0 victory over the Cherries put them seventh in the table – but Nuno is not paying too much attention to that.

He refused to focus on the table when Wolves stormed the Championship last season and feels no need to change his approach.

"We are trying to build something together," said Nuno.

"But last season we didn't look at the table when we were in the Championship.

"Now we are in the Premier League, why are we going to change?

"We have to keep building and working together."

One man who has played a significant role in Wolves' recent wins is Raul Jimenez, having scored against both Bournemouth and Chelsea.

The Mexican is on loan from Benfica for the season, with Wolves having an option to buy him next summer for a figure believed to be around £30million.

Nuno said last week a decision will not be made until the end of the campaign – and did not change his stance after the triumph over the Cherries.

"This is not the moment to talk about that," he added.

"Him, ourselves, we have to be focused. In the right moments, we will take the right decisions.

"Everybody has to agree to that decision. It is not your will, it is also other people’s decisions."
