Nuno does not rule out Wolves move for Tammy Abraham
Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo remained coy when asked about a move for Villa loan star Tammy Abraham – but did not rule it out.
Wolves, who lost 2-0 to Crystal Palace on Wednesday night, are in talks with parent club Chelsea over signing the striker, the Express & Star understands.
Abraham has netted 16 goals in 20 matches for Dean Smith's side. He's on loan for the season from Chelsea but can be recalled and then loaned out again in January.
It's understood that no deal has been agreed yet but Wolves would like to sign the young Englishman permanently.
"No, I cannot comment on that, but I can comment on how we work," said Nuno.
"So the transfer window is happening now, and we anticipated it before.
"We have a squad, and now we have to look at it. And we have to analyse what we have in front of us, and who can deliver these things.
"Now we have the chance with the transfer window, and anything can happen.
"But this squad will stay with us. The core is there, and we have to know if we need something.
"It's step by step, as we go. I'm going to work on what I need. Let's find who I need."
Villa chief Smith said after Tuesday's 2-2 draw with QPR that he wasn't worried about losing Abraham and would be 'amazed' if the player or Chelsea would want to end his time at Villa.
However with Wolves said to be preparing a substantial bid for the 21-year-old, the lure of moving to a top-half Premier League club may be too big for Abraham to turn down.
There may be an issue, though, with Abraham having already played for Chelsea's Under-23 side and Villa's first-team this season. Players cannot play for three clubs in one season and it is at FIFA's discretion if the Under-23 game should count.
Wolves defender Kortney Hause has been linked with a move away, to Villa.
And Nuno indicated the defender could leave the club this month.
"It's the same thing we have to do," he said.
"Every time a player has a chance to go, it's because of some things like he needs to play.
"If we have an asset that needs to play, if we have a chance, we will take it."
Meanwhile, winger Jordan Graham's loan move to Oxford has been confirmed.
