The Telford-born left wing-back started the 2-2 draw against Shrewsbury Town on Saturday, handing him the perfect 19th birthday present.

Giles earned praise from his boss Nuno Espirito Santo after the game.

And the delighted teenager said: "It will be one to remember!"

"It was a very, very good game. I was happy with the experience I took out of it.

"I found out I was in the team three days before. We did training which gave me an insight that he was planning on playing me, so it was a good amount of time to get my head around it.

"I wasn't surprised – you have to be ready. It's a case of always being ready for the opportunity.

"You've always got to be prepared for the bigger stage. I've been involved in training a lot, the manager and the lads have always helped me out, which has helped me settle in a bit more.

"At this stage of my career it's now about grabbing as many games as I can."

His second game may come as early as next week, with Wolves facing a fourth round replay against their League One opponents on either Tuesday or Wednesday.

Giles starred on loan with another Shropshire side Telford last season and he believes that experience helped him cope on Saturday.

"My experience at Telford helped. When I went there it posed something different, the facilities and the conditions weren't as good as what I was used to but it's something you have to adapt to quickly.

"From that perspective it's about learning and developing.

"I've been training a lot with the first team, playing for the U23s and in the Checkatrade.

"I've been on the bench for Cardiff and Leicester so I'm in a good position and I feel like I'm going in the right direction.

"The club are there and supporting me, they're always talking to me and trying to tell me where my weaknesses are, so I think I'm in a good situation.

"I've just to keep on learning and taking the advice given to me."

"I've been a Wolves player since I've been very young, they've developed me into the player I am today.

"I'm very grateful for all the support I've had all the way through from an eight-year-old."
