Danny Batth leaves Wolves for Stoke in £4m deal
Wolves' longest serving player Danny Batth has left the club to join Stoke City in a deal which could rise to £4million.
The 28-year-old club captain had been on loan at Middlesbrough but the Potters have swooped to sign him on a permanent move.
Batth, born in Brierley Hill, joined Wolves' academy at the age of 10.
He went on to play 212 times for the club and lifted the Championship trophy with Conor Coady after his penultimate game in Wolves colours at the end of last season.
Batth was expected to be part of Nuno Espirito Santo's Premier League squad but was surprisingly allowed to leave in August. His team mates paid tribute to him at the time.
Batth will join ex-Wolves team mate Benik Afobe at the bet365 Stadium.
The defender, who still lives in the Black Country, said of his Stoke move: "I’ve joined a fantastic club and I’m looking forward to getting started.
"The transfer happened really quickly and now I’m just looking forward to finding my feet and training with the boys.
"I managed to get a few minutes with Benik on the phone.
"I’ve played with him twice in different spells at Wolves – I know him really well and we’ve kept in touch.
"He spoke volumes about the club and what the new manager (Nathan Jones) is trying to do."
